Give Your Butt a Boost With the Brazilian Butt Lift
A Brazilian butt lift (BBL) is a cosmetic surgery procedure that uses a combination of liposuction and injections to transfer fat from areas of excess to your buttocks. Without implants or silicone, BBL uses your own adipose (fatty) tissue to create a sexy new look that’s all you.
Aisha Baron, MD, a board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon, is an expert at performing Brazilian butt lifts to reshape your body. Her practice, Breast Body Beauty Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery in Marietta, Georgia, serves the entire metro Atlanta area.
A Brazilian butt lift could give you the shape of your dreams. Almost 22,000 women and men in the United States had one done in 2020. Are you a candidate?
Is your butt flatter or lower than you want it to be?
If your buttocks area doesn’t fill out your clothing or make you feel curvy and sexy, you may be a candidate for a Brazilian butt lift. Based on your goals and body type, Dr. Baron may be able to create a butt that looks:
- Higher
- Firmer
- Rounder
- More toned
- Less saggy
During your consultation, she explains what you can realistically expect from your Brazilian butt lift. If your butt is sagging due to age, she may recommend a buttocks lift either instead of, or in tandem with, a BBL.
Do you have extra fat elsewhere on your body?
If your butt isn’t the only part of your anatomy that’s flat, you may not be able to have a BBL. In order to transfer fat to your buttocks, Dr. Baron must first remove it from an area where you have an excess of fatty tissue, such as your:
- Lower abdomen
- Hips
- Inner thighs
- Lower back
- Upper arms
Dr. Baron examines your body to determine if you have enough fatty tissue for a BBL. One of the great things about a Brazilian butt lift is that it reshapes at least two areas of your body at once, by removing fat where you don’t want it and transferring it to where you do.
Is your skin tight and firm?
To get the best results from a Brazilian butt lift, your skin should be in good shape and still be elastic. If you have aging skin, particularly sagging skin in the buttocks area, you may not be a good candidate for a BBL.
However, you can still improve the look and shape of your buttocks through other means. Dr. Baron may recommend body contouring with Inmode — techniques that use lasers and other heat-based therapies to coagulate tissue to make your skin firmer and more elastic.
Can you stay off your butt?
Even if you’re otherwise a perfect candidate for a Brazilian butt lift, there’s one last piece that must be in place. You must be willing to stay off your butt.
The recovery period may last as long as eight weeks. During that time, you’re not allowed to sit directly on your buttocks or to lie on your back. That means you have to sleep on your side or stomach for the entire recovery period.
If you usually sit down for your work, you may opt to use a standing desk instead. Or, after the first two weeks of not sitting at all, you can use a specially designed doughnut-shaped cushion that prevents you from putting pressure on your buttocks.
You also need to refrain from doing your normal activities for a while. For the first week, you need to focus on your recovery, but then you can gradually add in light housework and daily tasks. However, you should arrange to take off 10-14 days from your job and any strenuous activity.
